What is iGemz?

iGemz is a South African-based supplier of premium loose gemstones, offering over 60 species and tens of thousands of individual stones. We cater to jewellery designers, collectors, and gemstone enthusiasts worldwide, with a focus on ethically sourced, carefully graded gemstones.

Where do you source your gemstones from?

Our gemstones are ethically sourced directly from trusted lapidaries and various other sources around the world. Every stone is inspected and graded by our team before it is listed for sale.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship gemstones globally, ensuring secure packaging, insurance, and careful handling so that your purchase arrives in perfect condition.

Are your gemstones ethically sourced?

Yes. All our gemstones are sourced from reputable suppliers, ensuring ethical practices and responsible mining processes. We do not buy gemstones from small scale miners.

Can I visit iGemz in person?

While we operate primarily online and our gemstones are held offsite in high security locations. We welcome serious clients to schedule appointments for viewing selected gemstones by prior arrangement.

PRODUCTS & LAB CERTIFICATION

Can I request lab certification for my gemstone?

Yes. Every gemstone can be certified by one of our trusted labs: EGL South Africa (Johannesburg) or The Gem Lab (Cape Town). Certification provides an independent verification of species, clarity, colour, carat weight, and other properties.

How does lab certification work?

There is a lab option on the product page of each gemstone on this website. You select the lab of your preference and place your order. We handle the delivery to the lab and return the certified stone to you. Lab reports are provided as official documentation confirming the stone’s quality and authenticity.

What happens if the lab finds a discrepancy?

If the lab determines the gemstone is not as described, iGemz will replace it or issue a refund per our Returns & Refunds policy. Please note: lab fees are non-refundable.

Can I certify a gemstone after purchase?

Yes, iGemz offers optional lab re-certification for any gemstone purchased here. This allows verification years after purchase, useful for resale, insurance, or personal assurance.

How are gemstones graded at iGemz?

In addition to a refractive index test, every gemstone is carefully measured, weighed, and evaluated for clarity, colour, and cut, and is documented through high-quality photographs and videos. Our high-resolution media, often enlarged up to ten times, provides complete transparency and ensures an accurate representation of each stone online. Thanks to this level of magnification, inclusions that are normally invisible to the naked eye are clearly revealed, giving you full confidence in your purchase.

Can I request additional certification for resale or insurance purposes?

Yes. You may request a re-certification report from either lab at any time after purchase, for insurance or resale purposes. Each lab offers reports at different levels, with the scope and detail varying accordingly.

ORDERING & PAYMENTS

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept PayPal, Peach Payments, EFT and Wire Transfer. All payment options are secure, and we do not store sensitive financial information on our website.

Can I place a bulk or wholesale order?

Yes. Our wholesale programme is designed for individuals and companies operating in the jewellery and gemstone industry. Applicants can register on our website, and once their account is approved, they will have access to wholesale pricing, exclusive offers, and ongoing trade benefits.

How can I track my order?

Once your order is shipped, you will receive a tracking number via email. You can monitor delivery in real-time through the courier service.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Orders can be modified or cancelled only if the gemstone has not been processed for shipment. Contact our support team immediately if you need to make changes.

Can I split payment between multiple methods?

Currently, we accept only one payment method per order. For high-value purchases, please contact our support team if your require assistance.

Do you offer payment plans for high-value gemstones?

RETURNS, REFUNDS & GUARANTEES

What is your returns policy?

Our returns policy allows for returns within the specified return window if the gemstone is in the same condition as received. Lab fees are non-refundable.

Do you offer a warranty on gemstones?

While loose gemstones are natural and do not carry a lifetime physical warranty, iGemz guarantees authenticity and accurate grading. We also provide safe delivery and optional re-certification services.

What if my gemstone arrives damaged?

All shipments are fully insured. If your gemstone is damaged during transit, we will replace it or refund your purchase, as outlined in our shipping and returns policies.

Can I return a gemstone if I change my mind?

Yes, provided it is returned in the same condition, in it’s original packaging (with intact security seals) within the return window and as per our Returns & Refunds policy.

Are lab fees refundable if I return a gemstone?

No. Lab fees are non-refundable, even if the gemstone is returned or fails lab verification.

How long does it take to process a refund?

Refunds are processed within 8–10 business days after the returned gemstone is received and inspected as per our Returns & Refunds policy.

SHIPPING & DELIVERY

How long does delivery take?

Orders received before 12H00 (South African time) are shipped the same day – orders received after 12H00 are shipped the next day. Delivery time depends on your location. Within South Africa, standard shipping typically takes 2–5 business days. International shipments usually take 7–14 business days, depending on customs clearance.

Are gemstones insured during shipping?

Yes. Every gemstone is securely packaged and fully insured to protect against loss or damage during transit.

How are gemstones packaged for delivery?

Each gemstone is individually packaged in a protective container with cushioning to prevent damage. Packaging is discreet, secure, and insured.

Can I request express or overnight shipping?

Yes, express shipping options are available for domestic and international orders. Shipping fees vary based on courier and destination.

Do you ship to PO boxes?

For security reasons, we only ship to verified physical addresses.

Can I track my shipment internationally?

Yes. Every international shipment comes with a tracking number so you can monitor progress online.

What about custom duties and taxes?

For customers in South Africa, all shipments arrive without any additional customs duties or taxes. International customers should note that import duties or taxes may apply, depending on the regulations of the destination country. These are determined by the local authorities and are separate from iGemz pricing.
